Web Application
VBooks GST
GST-compliant billing and accounting for Indian businesses—invoices, returns-ready data, and role-based access.
VBooks GST is a web application for small and mid-sized businesses that need invoicing aligned with Indian GST rules. We implemented invoice templates, customer and inventory records, tax breakdowns, and reporting views that accountants can export for filing workflows.
The product focuses on clarity for non-technical owners while giving bookkeepers the fields and audit history they expect.
Challenge
Spreadsheet-based billing was error-prone when GST slabs, HSN codes, or place-of-supply rules changed. Multiple staff edited the same files, and there was no consistent numbering or backup strategy.
The business needed role-based access (owner vs staff), printable PDF invoices, and historical records that would survive hardware failure.
Solution
We delivered a Laravel application with authenticated roles, configurable invoice series, and line-item tax calculation driven by master data for rates and units. PDF generation uses stable templates; critical writes run in database transactions.
Scheduled backups and a simple deployment on a managed VPS with PHP-FPM and MySQL were documented for the client team, including restore steps.
Key deliverables
- GST invoice templates with CGST, SGST, and IGST breakdowns
- Customer, product, and HSN catalog management
- Role-based permissions for staff and administrators
- PDF invoices and email/share flows
- Sales and tax summary reports with date filters
- Audit-friendly invoice numbering and edit history
- Responsive UI for desk and tablet use in retail settings
Outcome
Day-to-day billing moved off shared spreadsheets into a single system with backups and access control. Accountants receive consistent exports; owners can review totals without editing raw files.
