Elevate DevOps Migration
Migration from shared hosting to a hardened Linux VPS—Nginx, SSL, CI deploys, and monitoring for a multi-app portfolio.
This engagement consolidated several small applications from shared hosting onto a single well-documented VPS. The goal was reliable uptime, repeatable deployments, and email that would not land in spam after DNS changes.
We treated the migration as a platform project: baseline security, observability, and runbooks—not a one-time file copy.
Challenge
Applications shared one overloaded control panel; SSL renewals failed silently and cron jobs duplicated across accounts. Developers deployed via FTP with no version history. Mail for multiple domains pointed at inconsistent SPF records.
Downtime during DNS cutover was unacceptable for the main revenue site.
Solution
We provisioned a VPS with non-root deploy user, firewall rules, and automatic security updates. Each app runs under PM2 or Docker with Nginx server blocks and managed Let’s Encrypt certificates.
GitHub Actions deploy on tag or main-branch merge; secrets stay off the server in the CI provider. We corrected SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for primary domains and validated with test sends before cutover. A maintenance window moved DNS with rollback DNS TTL planning.

Outcome
The portfolio runs on one controlled environment with traceable deploys and aligned email authentication. The client reduced time spent on unexplained outages and can onboard new sites using the same baseline pattern.
