Elevate Commerce Storefront

Performance-focused e-commerce storefront with optimized checkout, catalog search, and production deployment on Linux.

Elevate Commerce is a branded online storefront upgrade for a retailer moving off a slow template site. We rebuilt the customer-facing experience with modern front-end patterns, tightened checkout friction, and deployed the application to a VPS stack the client could afford to operate long term.

Work included catalog structure, payment handoff integration points, and server hardening—not only theme changes.

Challenge

The previous site scored poorly on mobile performance and lost search visibility. Checkout abandoned when shipping calculations lagged. There was no staging environment, so every change went straight to production.

Inventory updates were manual and error-prone during promotions.

Solution

We implemented a Next.js storefront with server-rendered product pages, image optimization, and a checkout flow that validates address and shipping rules before payment redirect. Catalog and orders sync through a documented API layer backed by PostgreSQL.

Staging and production environments run on separate paths with PM2, Nginx reverse proxy, and automated database backups. We documented deploy and rollback steps for the client’s team.

Key deliverables

  • Server-rendered product and category pages for SEO
  • Fast catalog search and facet filters
  • Checkout with shipping rules and tax hooks
  • Stripe payment session integration
  • Admin-friendly product import patterns
  • Staging vs production environment separation
  • Nginx TLS, gzip, and cache headers for static assets
  • Runbook for deploy, backup, and restore

Outcome

Page load and mobile usability improved measurably in Lighthouse audits run before launch. The client can stage changes safely and operate the stack without a dedicated DevOps hire for routine updates.
